Current Events Facilitator - Job Description
The Current Event Facilitator is responsible for researching positive, current events to educate the youth on what is going on in their community or in the rest of the world. Current events should not talk about outrageously sad news, such as; death of babies, mass killings, etc. They will then be responsible for promoting conversation or debate after the reading is complete. The Current Event Facilitator will report to the leader of the center they are volunteering at and should direct any questions or concerns to that person. The ideal individual will be reliable, punctual, and will be able to differentiate current event topics from week to week.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Research and choose current event each week
- Print at least 3-5 copies of current event for youth and volunteers to pass around and read
- Ensurecurrent events are positive, educational and promote healthy conversation between youth and volunteers
- Facilitatediscussion after reading; keep discussion focused on what was read and help youth explore different opinions and/or pros and cons of current event.
Qualifications:
Have access to internet and printer, have reliable transportation to get to and from meetings, pass background check and complete all mandatory StandUp For Kids training sessions.

Description
StandUp for Kids fights to end youth homelessness by providing resources to homeless and at-risk kids. Resource rang from basic hygiene, healthcare, counseling, menroring, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation to support through our four core programs: Street Outreach, Mentoring, Outreach Centers and Apartment Support.
Aside from these resources and services, StandUp for Kids provides a caring community who values all homeless and at-risk youth. Our mentors and volunteers establish non-threatening relationships with youth and provide them with the lov and support of famlly, helping guide them to independence, education, and self-sufficiency.
