Prepare With Pedro is an emergency preparedness program offered to children in grades K-2. The program is currently in pilot phase and Northern Nevada is one of the areas where it will be offered. However, this can't happen without building the team to support it. Team member roles include being a presenter, a presentation assistant, an administrative supporter, or a presenter trainer. All training is provided, and the time commitment would average 5 hours or less per month, and for that you can gain (or put to use) valuable skills in teaching, administrative support, event planning, marketing, or all of the above while helping kids prepare for the disasters that affect our community every day.
The 30-45 minute presentation provides emergency preparedness education to youth in grades K-2 (ages 4-7) in school classrooms and other settings. Numerous tools have been developed for this program including a standardized curriculum, storybook, quizzes and activities which have been carefully constructed with the help of curriculum and hazard experts. Many tools for presenters have been developed to foster consistency and fidelity to the program goals and objectives.
