PROJECT ANIMALAID BOARD MEMBER - DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Board will support the work of Project AnimalAid ("PAA") and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by PAA’s Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is one of mutual support, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

This document will be shared with prospective board members and will be reviewed on an annual basis with existing board members and will be used as the basis for evaluating each board member and the Board as a whole.

Specific board member responsibilities include (Numbered items do not imply importance or priority):

  1. Along with the Executive Director, determine and execute the mission of Project AnimalAid.
  2. Provide governance to Project AnimalAid including reviewing and approving PAA’s strategic direction, annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Serve as a trusted advisor to the E.D. as he/she develops and implements PAA’s strategic direction. Monitor and review metrics developed around PAA’s annual budget to evaluate impact, performance and effectiveness.
  4. Contribute expertise and time to support the organization as a governing board member, including leadership development, strategic direction, and fiscal oversight.
  5. Participate each year in events or outings that reinforce understanding and commitment to the PAA mission, and support donor engagement and cultivation.
  6. Give what for you is a significant annual gift - one of the top three contributions you make - and commit to grow fundraising capabilities over time to meet and exceed all expectations for board member participation.
  7. Actively participate in building relationships between supporters/prospects and the organization. Be an active "friend-raiser" that leads to generous contributions. Attend board meetings and actively serve on committees or task forces.
  8. Hire, advise and annually evaluate the Executive Director.
  9. Communicate to the organization through the board chair, and through designated staff liaisons for committees.
  10. Ensure PAA's commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities PAA serves.

About Project AnimalAid

Location:

1630A 30TH ST, # 256, BOULDER, CO 80301, US

Mission Statement

Project AnimalAid is dedicated to helping improve the health and welfare of animals around the world. We achieve this goal by collecting veterinary equipment, technology and supplies from veterinary hospitals, human hospitals, medical equipment/supply manufacturers and individuals and distributing them worldwide to veterinarians working in non-profit or non-governmental organizations devoted to animal health. In this way, we also conserve valuable resources that might otherwise end up in a landfill. Project AnimalAid previously operated under the name Project V.E.T.S.

Description

Project AnimalAid is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the health and welfare of wildlife, companion animals and working animals by collecting veterinary and medical equipment, technology and supplies from veterinary and human hospitals, manufacturers and individuals. These items are then distributed to veterinarians working in non-profit or non-governmental organizations worldwide who are also devoted to improving animal health and welfare (called "Recipient Organizations"). PAA receives donations that are difficult for Recipient Organizations to procure due to lack of funding, inaccessibility and/or challenges with receiving items in their home country.
