Family Service League/ SAVE of Essex County is looking for volunteers who would like to be Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates. SAVE of Essex County is the county's designated rape crisis center where we run a 24/7 hotline to support survivors of sexual violence, have advocates around the clock to accompany survivors to hospitals for forensic evidence examinations, police stations for reporting procedures, and court houses during trials.
In order to become an advocate, you must complete a 40 hour state-mandated training that we will offer beginning on February 6th. The training is free for all those interested. Participants must live within the county and be available during the times of the training.

Description

SAVE of Essex County operates a 24-hour sexual violence hotline, dispatching Confidential Sexual Violence Advocates around the clock to support and accompany victims and survivors through medical and legal procedures on site in hospitals, police stations, and courts, and provide crisis counseling as well as referrals to longer-term post-trauma counseling and other important resources.
