Volunteer Services has two confidentially located wood banks, one in Olympia and one in Shelton. We need volunteers to offer up their muscle, time, and hauling vehicles to load up firewood and bring supplies to low-income seniors and adults with disabilities in need in Mason and Lewis Counties. Are you able to help supply heat to seniors during the cold months? Use your own truck or hauling vehicle to pick up firewood and deliver it to clients that rely on firewood for heat during Fall and Winter. VS also offers extended liability insurance and we reimburse for mileage at$0.44/mile! Please contact the Program Coordinator Rebekah Graham for more information! Be a true hero this holiday season and get a good work out doing it!

Mission Statement
We believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment We believe the elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. We believe healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities We believe in compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. We believe in joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. We believe employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. We believe in all of these things for all people, whatever their color, whatever language they speak or however they worship.
Description
Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
