PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To support the assistant marketing director and marketing director in execution of Dallas Pets Alive communications strategy.
SALARY/PAYRATE: Volunteer.
TIME REQUIREMENT: 3-5 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with DPA leadership on ideas and topics for newsletters and email marketing.
- Write content that will be engaging for DPA followers and appeal to our audience.
- Design related images to accompany written copy and/or oversee an additional volunteer who has this responsibility.
- Keep DPA email list up to date.
- Analyze results of newsletters/email blasts to be applied to future newsletters.
- Send periodic targeted email blasts on specific topics, such as relating to a large upcoming event, fundraiser or appeal.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Correspondence with DPA marketing team, leadership team and supporters on a regular basis.
CONTROLS OVER WORK : This position reports to the Assistant Marketing Director, Marketing Director, Vice President - Administration and the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be proficient with use of email and have regular phone access.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and maintain professional level correspondence at all times.
- Must be a creative thinker and approach the role strategically.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and consistent with follow through.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with a variety of management styles and personalities.
- Must display a positive attitude at all times and present DPA in a positive manner to the public.
- Must have HS diploma or higher degree of education.
- Experience in a paid position or highly responsible volunteer position managing newsletter/email blast content is preferred.

Description
OUR APPROACH
Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.
We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.
In our rescue program, we focus on:
- Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
- Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
- Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
- Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!

*At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.
*Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.
