An incredibly meaningful way to get involved! You will be supporting the surviving family members of patients who have passed away by placing phone calls to provide information on upcoming bereavement support groups and offering other specific resources. You will also be making phone calls on the anniversary of the passing of a loved one to let the surviving family know we are thinking about them and available to support them. Additionally, identify (with input and direction of the Bereavement Coordinator) grieving individuals who may need visits or follow up calls from the Bereavement Coordinator.

Optional opportunities may arise where the Bereavement Volunteer is able to accompany the Bereavement Coordinator on visits to surviving family members.

Orientation, background check, TB test and drug test are required for all volunteers. Encompass Hospice covers all costs of medical tests, screenings and trainings.
