ORGANIZATION: Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Phoenix Dining Room
Volunteer serving a hot meal.

Our five dining rooms are strategically located throughout the Valley, from Mesa to El Mirage, to be easily accessible to the people who need them most. Every day, we prepare more than 5000 nourishing meals free of charge to homeless or low-income individuals and families.

Volunteer duties include but are not limited to: room preparation, setting up tables and chairs, greeting guests, serving meals, waiting on tables, sorting / giving out essential items to guests (eg, clothing, hygiene kits, etc.), clean up (eg, mopping, taking out garbage, washing dishes, etc). Closed-toe shoes with rubber soles required. We appreciate volunteers being flexible & helping where the greatest need is; this may mean working in an area different than originally scheduled.

Volunteer Shifts: daily 9:30am-1pm

If you are interested in volunteering at this dining room, please submit a volunteer registration form by visiting https://www.stvincentdepaul.net/volunteer/register and selecting dining rooms as your area of interest. About Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Location:

P. O. Box 13600, 420 W. Watkins Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85003, US

Mission Statement

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a 2-part mission that is dependent upon YOU! We Feed, Clothe, House, & Heal homeless & low-income individuals and families in our community who are in need of support. We provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion. Volunteers are 95% of our workforce because we believe this is how our world works best - we all need to work together to create a community that works for all of us.

Description

SVdP has been serving our community throughout central and northern Arizona since 1946.

Programs include:

* Services for the homeless.

* Medical and dental care for the working poor.

* Charity dining rooms that serve thousands each day.

* Food boxes for hungry families.

* Thrift stores throughout the region.

* A bridge housing shelter.

* General assistance for individuals in need.

To begin, we invite you to attend a virtual volunteer orientation. This will give you a sense of our mission and history, and help you figure out the ways to use your passions to best help us accomplish our service to the community. We’ll review the many different volunteer opportunities available (over 25 programs / locations!), and help you figure out where your interests match up and what type of volunteer position will work best for you and your schedule.

If you are interested in attending a volunteer orientation please email volunteer@svdpaz.org or call 602-261-6886. Fill out a volunteer application at www.stvincentdepaul.net/volunteer.
