Hunger and food insecurity continue to rise in Arizona. Lack of proper nutrition leads to permanent, life-altering illnesses. Our kitchen prepares 7,000+ nutritional meals every day, providing meals to all four St. Vincent de Paul Dining Rooms and over 35 partner social services agencies. Tasks include: Learning knife skills and safety while chopping vegetables, fruits, and meat Opening cans Washing and processing produce from the Urban Farms Panning out frozen foods Packaging food Making sandwiches and sack lunches Assembling salads Cleaning up the kitchen

Our five dining rooms are strategically located throughout the Valley, from Mesa to El Mirage, to be easily accessible to the people who need them most. Every day, we prepare more than 5000 nourishing meals free of charge to homeless or low-income individuals and families. Volunteer duties include but are not limited to: room preparation, setting up tables and chairs, greeting guests, serving meals, waiting on tables, sorting / giving out essential items to guests (eg, clothing, hygiene kits, etc.), clean up (eg, mopping, taking out garbage, washing dishes, etc). Closed-toe shoes with rubber soles required. We appreciate volunteers being flexible & helping where the greatest need is; this may mean working in an area different than originally scheduled. Volunteer Shifts: daily 9:30am-1pm If you are interested in volunteering at this dining room, please submit a volunteer registration form by visiting https://www.stvincentdepaul.net/volunteer/register and selecting dining rooms as your area of interest. Our thrift stores are the face of St. Vincent de Paul throughout the valley. Our donated clothing, furniture, and household items are sold to the public at low-cost or given directly to someone in need. Volunteer duties include but are not limited to: sorting donations, product placement, store design, inventory, customer service, and cleaning. Volunteer Shifts: Tuesday- Saturday1pm-6pm.
