ORGANIZATION: Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute

Visit with Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP) clients who have requested friendly company during their evening or weekend leisure time. TRP clients are living at and receiving comprehensive therapies for the purpose of adjusting to a recent neurological event (ex. stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury). Activities vary widely depending on interests and abilities, yet might include some of the following: Going for a walk to feed the ducks. Watching a sporting event on TV. Bringing clients to the media center and helping them set up and watch a movie. Helping a client use a computer to access the internet. Share stories and have coffee in the café. Playing board games, cards or putting a puzzle together. Listening to music. Reading them a book or the paper.

Must enjoy having fun, smiling, laughing and bringing joy to other people’s lives.

Ability to push a wheelchair short distances for some clients.

Available when clients need social support the most, on evenings and weekends.

Ability/willingness to commit to between 1-4 hours at least once each or every other week.

Available volunteer opportunities:

Monday through Friday from 6-8pm.

Saturday and Sunday 9:30a-11:30a or 12:30p-4:30
