Help Seniors with their Fancy Devices

ORGANIZATION: Phinney Neighborhood Association

Volunteers needed to help members one-on-one with their smart phones, tablets, laptops or eReaders. Questions are usually pretty basic: how to attach a photo to an email, how to set up an Instagram account, how to follow the Pope on Twitter, etc.

Flexible schedule (you pick a mutually convenient time). Background check required & 6-month commitment requested. Great for high school students looking for an ongoing position.

Mentors typically meet "clients" in-person at the Greenwood Senior Center (M-F, 9:30AM to 4:30PM), or at the Phinney Center (M-F, 9AM to 8PM, or Sat 9AM to 4PM).

If you are interested in this opportunity for service hours, this is a great direct-service, intergenerational, opportunity. We’ve found volunteers are most successful when they are able to make a longer-termed commitment (6+ months) in order to accumulate the number of required hours. To give you an idea of how many hours you might get, we generally get 8 to 10 requests for help per month, and currently have a pool of about 15 volunteers.
