The library has great goals for providing support to develop their STEAM and homework-help programs. If you really want to volunteer at this Library, you must be patient after you submit your application for a feedback. After much thought I decided to post this so it may help others considering. It took the library volunteer coordinator almost three weeks to get back to me for the initial contact after submitting an application (I found another organization to support with similar needs within that timespan). Again, they have good goals and needs but you have to be patient through their processing if you want to volunteer at this library.

If you're signing up to volunteer in the Media Services dept. as I originally did, you should probably know that you will not be assisting customers, checking in materials, or assisting computer users in the lab at all. It is simply shelving. The library appears overstaffed and there are too many volunteers to as it is, which can mean you may not be able to work in Media when you want to because someone else will already be there. The staff itself is a bit scattered and disorganized. I was generally disappointed that the experience was not what I thought it would be.

Local library in Huntington Beach. I assisted in processing books for book sale, updating databases, assited with straightening and shelving of books. Great staff, friendly, and always there for you. Enjoyed helping their needs.
