Help an adult learn to speak English! We are looking for supportive individuals who are eager to assist non-native born English speakers improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. No experience needed -- just enthusiasm and dedication! Volunteers should be able to: tutor at least once a week (1-2 hours each session) commit to a minimum of 6 months or longer complete a training process before the start of your tutoring participate in meetings (every 6 weeks) to reinforce your tutoring skills and learn new program information regularly check your email Requirements to apply: 18 or older read, write, and speak English clearly have basic computer skills (or willing to learn) Once you have completed the training, you will be matched with a learner based on your time availability. Tutoring will take place at the library. Basic learning materials are provided to both learners and tutors. The literacy staff will provide you with assistance and support throughout the program. Help an adult prepare for their GED/HiSet Exam! We are looking for motivated individuals who can provide one-to-one tutoring to an adult and help prepare them for the GED or HiSET exam. Tutors may choose to tutor in the areas of Reading/Writing, Math, or other subject area as needed. No experience in tutoring is required. The Placentia Library District seeks to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Our library offers a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
