Mission Statement
This vision of Micke Grove Zoo will be achieved by focusing on six action areas: • Conservation: Contributing to and strengthening conservation efforts by breeding endangered species of wildlife in captivity; • Education: Providing innovative learning experiences to visitors, particularly children and students on key conservation issues that will inspire them to take conservation actions; • Visitors: Provide the visiting public opportunities to spend quality time at our zoo; • Research: Conduct and support research in conservation and conservation education towards improving the zoo; • Staff and Volunteer : Support zoo staff's and volunteer's development to ensure their contribution in making Micke Grove Zoo a zoo-based conservation organization; • Financial Sustainability: Ensure the long-term financial sustainability of all zoo operations, maintain and improve assets and make meaningful and measurable investments in conservation
Description
Micke Grove Zoo is a captive wildlife center that is owned and run by a County government in California. This facility breeds threatened wildlife in captivity to support their conservation. Conservation education programs are conducted at the zoo to promote local knowledge on wildlife conservation. Volunteers are trained at this facility and some of them are hired on a regular basis.
