National Park Service Guide on Amtrak's Coast Starlight - Santa Barbara area

The Trails and Rails program is a collaboration between the National Park Service and Amtrak. As their local partner, the South Coast Railroad Museum trains and coordinates Trails and Rails volunteers on Amtrak’s Coast Starlight along the Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. Most of the program takes place in the Sightseer Lounge car aboard the Coast Starlight. Guides are expected to volunteer a minimum of two days per month, April through September (The program is not active during the winter months). We travel between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, returning to Santa Barbara the same day. Hours are approximately 10:00am to 6:00 pm. Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Potential Trails and Rails volunteers attend an initial day-long classroom training at the start of their first season, then continue their education by observing and assisting seasoned guides in peer-to-peer learning on the train. National Park Service Trails & Rails Guide Based Near San Jose on Amtrak's Coast Starlight

The Trails and Rails program is a collaboration between the National Park Service and Amtrak. Trails and Rails volunteers provide an interpretive program aboard Amtrak’s Coast Starlight between San Jose and San Luis Obispo. Most of the program takes place in the Sightseer Lounge car aboard the Coast Starlight. Guides are expected to volunteer a minimum of one day per month, May through September. (The program is inactive October through April.) We travel between San Jose and Paso Robles, beginning and ending at the San Jose Diridon Station the same day. Hours are approximately 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. Saturdays or Sundays. Potential Trails and Rails volunteers attend an initial day-long classroom training at the start of their first season, then continue their education by observing and assisting seasoned guides in peer-to-peer learning on the train. Goleta Short Line Miniature Train Crew

Flexible Schedule | Goleta, CA 93117

Conductors and Engineers are needed for operating our miniature train. The train operates Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 4 pm. Passengers are children over 34 inches tall and adults. Crew is responsible for safe operation of the train and for the welfare of the passengers. COVID-19 safety measures are in effect for passengers and crew. Masks are required. Physical distancing is required. Crew members should be over 16 years of age. Engineers are required to have a valid drivers license. Both engineers and conductors will be trained and supervised by the museum staff and volunteers.
