Mission Statement
The Desert Club, founded in 1946, is a non-profit, women's service organization. The primary goals of our organization are to provide much needed educational much scholarships in east valley area as well as to help local charities. To achieve these goals, Desert Club members in 1958 decided to host the first Christmas Idea House as a fundraiser.
Description
Over the past sixty six years, our efforts have raised nearly three million dollars to benefit students and others in the community. Because the Desert Club is a 501 (c) (3) organization, all of our proceeds are returned to the community. We provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors who are in need of financial assistance, as well as giving continued support to former scholarship recipients. We also fund a variety of worthy community organizations that aim to improve the health, education, and vocational opportunities for local citizens of all ages.
Every year the women of Desert Club begin working in late spring making unique Christmas decorations, gifts, and gourmet items. This effort culminates the first week in December, when we decorate a home that has been graciously loaned to us. The week's fundraising events include a preview gala on Thursday night, which includes dinner, dancing and raffles; two reservation only brunches with a home tour on Friday, and home tours open to the public on Friday evening and Saturday. Proceeds from the sale of items made by club members and the event ticket sales allow us to meet our charitable goals.
