At the International Foundation for World Freedom (IFWF), we believe everyone has the basic human right to fearlessly live with dignity and respect. The mission of IFWF is to protect the basic human rights of civil society and victims of war and armed conflicts. We advocate for safe resettlement of immigrants and their families and provide protection for those who seek harbor in fear of life and persecution.

Description

It is evident IFWF continues to play a vital role in the lives of low-and no-income immigrants and refugees in providing these essential resources. However, we also acknowledge that in order to achieve our mission, we must provide other services outside of our current scope. It is exceedingly difficult for immigrants in the US to gain knowledge about personal finance, especially considering barriers such as language or inability to access online resources. IFWF seeks to bridge this information gap by creating a Financial Literacy course specifically geared towards immigrants and refugees.

The course is provided in basic English and is translated to the official languages of the United Nations. The course is accessible online, and students learn upfront where they can access course materials for free. The course topics include, but are not limited to, budgeting, opening a bank account, electronic transactions, understanding credit and maintaining good credit, filing taxes, and savings. Each lesson has practical goals that students meet as they progress through the course. After the course, students understand their financial situation and are equipped to responsibly handle their personal finances.

We also develop courses in personal finance for our partner organizations and other groups.

I'm good at maintaining client relationships, conducting research, being keenly aware of viable news, and setting up my creative thoughts. What I value in this job is consistent with what I have acquired during my studies at college, past internships, and project and volunteer experiences. The college study and past volunteer experiences in animal rescues, caring for elders, and supporting teaching paved the way for me to find out my passion: telling the truth and helping people. I learned firsthand about the steps involved in producing news, such as choosing a topic, gathering and verifying information, interviewing people, writing, proofreading, and exhaling a sigh of relief. In addition to providing valuable insight into global historical events, my undergraduate studies also sharpened my perspective on social justice, the media industry, and global communication. I believe my past experiences and passions is fitted in this position, and hopefully to be part of your organization!
