Job Title: Phone-A-Friend Volunteer Purpose: Provide valuable customer service by performing bi-weekly check ins on our patients and their families Location: National Church Residences office or at home Key Responsibilities: Call patients or families to report on the frequency of hospice staff visits and inquire about patient/family satisfaction Take notes about patient or family concerns and email staff with those questions No medical knowledge necessary Time Commitment: 30-60 minutes per calling session. Job Title: Friendly Pet Visitor Purpose: Spending time with a pet can reduce anxiety and increase feelings of comfort and wellbeing. Friendly pet visitors will provide these benefits to patients by sitting together quietly, enjoying pet cuddles, and/or playing with pet toys. Location: Various locations in the Columbus, OH metro area Key Responsibilities: Visit patients in their homes or facilities Ensure pet and patient safety at all times Demonstrate clear control over animal behavior in calm, positive manner Provide casual conversation with patients and caregivers Politely guide others on how to interact with your animal Time Commitment: Once a month (min.), 1 hour shifts, for a minimum of 6 months plus 4-6 hours of hospice volunteer training and annual online inservices. Requirements: Dogs need not be certified therapy dogs, but must attend a meet-and-greet with hospice staff Up-to-date veterinary records Kindness, patience, organization Support: Training for this position will be provided. Age Requirement: None Dress Code: Casual. Dogs must be leashed.

Job Title: Vigil Volunteer Purpose: To provide presence and comfort to hospice patients in the final days and hours of life. Location: Greater Columbus Metro Region Key Responsibilities: Be a presence and support for patients who have entered the last 24-48 hours of life Sit with the patient when family/friends cannot be present or need a rest Be willing to accept a volunteer assignment without much advanced notice Weekend availability a plus Time Commitment: As needed for 6 + months. Job Title: Volunteer Hair Stylist Purpose: To help hospice patients look good and feel good through gentle hair care including hair washing, scalp massage, styling, and other services as requested.
