Mission Statement
The Volunteer Action Center (VAC) mobilizes people to build a stronger community through a commitment to volunteer recruitment, training and placement, information and referral services and the development of The Center for Community Service Agencies, offering low-cost office space to nonprofit agencies.
Description
The VAC offers specialized volunteer opportunties to faith-based volunteers through FaithLink, serving the elderly, chronically ill and disabled by helping them to remain independent in their homes. It also has a Retired Senior Volunteer Program which serves adults over 55 who want to use their special talents on behalf of others. The Youth Vounteer Corps works with young people and assists them to self-direct their community involvement. Connect WV is a state volunteer clearinghouse which utilizes technology to link people to service. FAMILY MATTERS is a special volunteer program which strengthens families while strengthening the community.WoodWorks is our Information and Referral program which links callers to services which support those who are seeking emergency food, shelter, medical assistance and a variety of other needs.
