Would you recommend Grand Canyon Historical Society?
My contact at the Grand Canyon Historical Society, Tom Martin, is welcoming, cordial, and helpful, and so appreciative of good transcription work. The oral interviews I transcribe are not only a great way for me to hone my transcription skills, but the subject matter is fascinating.
They were very helpful and effecient with the way the handled things. They also replied to you whenever you had a question.
I would highly recommend this volunteer organization as they are highly cooperative and professional at all times. I look forward to working with them in the future! One can only say great things about collaborations.
Transcribing these oral interviews has been a great experience! You get to hear some pretty cool stories and develop your listening and typing skills. Most of the interviews are about an hour to 2 hours long, but it took me about 30 minutes type out about 10 minutes of recording, so it can take quite a while to finish an interview. You can do it at your own pace, though, and you can do as many or as few interviews as you want.
Overall, the work is interesting, not too difficult, and much appreciated by the Grand Canyon Historical Society. If you like history and working at the computer, then this is the opportunity for you.
Fascinating stories and the contact person is very easy to work with.
