Help Library and Friends of the Library at defined events. The job has a beginning and an end, dependent upon the length of planning and execution, and is not a long-term commitment. May assist with preparation and/or at the event itself. Examples of tasks ared: attendance at committee meetings, help in preparation of flyers, publicity, social media, solicitation of sponsors and donors, staffing an information table at an event, checkin of attendees, setting up, and cleaning up after event.

Publicity Coordinator

Prepares and publishes articles for the local newspaper, City recreation guide, and social media about Moorpark Friends of the Library special events, fundraising projects,, library-related celebrations, regular and special book sales, and information about the in-library MFOTL bookstore. If possible, attend the bi-monthly Board of Directors (BOD) meetings, and participate in fundraising planning committees. A complete guide to the duties of the Coordinator is available, including all necessary contacts and time schedules. Members of the BOD assist the Publicity Coordinator by distributing flyers, posting on social media, and presentations to other organizations. The Publicity Coordinator may be a member of the Board of Directors, but not a requirement at this time. Because this person represents the Moorpark Friends of the Library to the public, he/she must be a member in good standing of the Moorpark Friends of the Library. At the lowest level, membership dues are $10 per year.

Special Events Committee Secretary

Attends plannng meetings for special and/or fundraising events. Creates the minutes of meetings from notes taken at each committe meeting, held about once a month for approximately two hours. Digitally stores the minutes and distributes a draft to to attendees. Creates a final version after corrections and distributes to members. Files digital and written minutes. Members of this Committee must be a member in good standing of the Moorpark Friends of the Library.

Mission Statement

The Friends is an independent non-profit organization specifically tasked with raisng funds for the Moorpark library and to support the library in any other way we can.

Description

We are a volunteer group of community members, moms, dads, young adults, retirees, friends and neighbors. We love our library and want to help it grow into a multi-purpose community service meeting the literacy, educational and related needs of our community. Some of our support efforts include: raising funds for the library through our in-library book store and book sales; purchasing book club books; sponsoring annual summer reading clubs; supporting children and teen reading programs; and much more. Although we exclusively support the library, we are not actually part of the library, but we work so closely together that it's easy to see us as one organization.
