Mission Statement

The Tampa Bay History Center is dedicated discovering, preserving, and learning from our region’s past to inform our common future.

Description

The Tampa Bay History Center's 60,000-square-foot museum opened in Jan 2009. Located in Tampa's downtown Water Street area, the museum is situated on the waterfront overlooking Cotanchobee-Fort Brooke Park. The four-level building features three floors of interactive exhibits, theater presentations, map center, research library, classrooms, event space, museum store, Columbia Cafe, and more.

Following in the footsteps of our area's first native inhabitants, Spanish conquistadors, pioneers, presidents, sports legends, and railroad tycoons, visitors can explore 500 years of recorded history and 12,000 years of human habitation in the Tampa Bay region. They can stroll through a 1920s cigar store, experience a theater presentation, create their own citrus labels, discover an 1800s Cracker cabin, view World War II artifacts, and more.

Had a super fun time volunteering for their Halloween event! It was great being around everyone and the museums environment itself is very cool. Planning on volunteering again soon.
