Description
WHYY adds local content and context to the finest programming available from PBS and NPR and extends the reach of programming by engaging our community in person and online. WHYY is also known as the producer of "Fresh Air with Terry Gross," the daily interview program heard by 4.5 million people each week through 450 NPR stations. WHYY's News & Public Affairs Service blends such programs as "All Things Considered" with WHYY's own "Delaware Tonight" TV news and WHYY-FM's in-depth radio news reports. In addition to such outstanding cultural programs as "Great Performances," WHYY's Arts & Culture service features "Experience," an ongoing series of video postcards that highlight fascinating local people, places and stories. Children's Service literacy workshops prepare teachers and day-care leaders to maximize the educational value of PBS children's programs from "Sesame Street" to "Mister Rogers Neighborhood." The Wider Horizons Service develops unique content to meet the needs and interests of underserved and ever-growing audiences, especially baby boomers and retirees. The station's Adult Learning Service is a national leader in the development of online learning for students completing college coursework.
