About This Role: We are seeking a Camp Director to help us plan and execute an amazing week of camp at Sibling Camp 2025. As a member of our camp leadership team, you will get the unique opportunity to help create and lead a much-needed camp experience that helps brothers and sisters of childhood cancer receive the personalized support they deserve. What is Sibling Camp? Sibling Camp is a one-of-a-kind program designed to address the unique challenges that brothers and sisters of childhood cancer patients face. Our 2025 program will take place in Hinsdale, MA, August 3-9. All of our camps are offered free-of-cost to our families to help combat the long-term challenges of childhood cancer. Specific Responsibilities You will work directly with our Program Director to plan camp logistics, select and train camp volunteers, and oversee all activities. You will lead the rest of the Sibling Camp Leadership Team throughout planning and execution, helping our team meet internal deadlines and stay on track throughout the year. Throughout the in-person camp session, you’ll provide your fellow leadership and camp counselors with the support they need to thrive in the camp setting. Most importantly, you will get the unique opportunity to help give siblings of childhood cancer an incredible week of camp: feeling understood, having fun, and building friendships to last a lifetime. Qualifications: Strong candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills: 25+ Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Able to pass a background check (provided by Camp Casco) Able to commit to the full camp session in August 2025 (August 3-9) in Hinsdale, MA At least 2 summers of camp experience, or comparable experience caring for kids ages 9-17 Kind and supportive management style Great communication skills Highly organized Not afraid to get silly and have fun to make a kid smile Determined to help us make this camp session our best one yet! Expectations & Commitment: Most of the preparation and planning can be done remotely and around your own schedule. Applicants must be able to commit to attending every day of the in-person camp session in Hinsdale, MA (August 3-9, 2025). Applicants should be able to commit to help with this role through the execution of the camp session in 2025. Strengthen Your Skills Serving as a leader at Camp Casco can help you use your existing skills in a creative new way. Teachers and childcare professionals may get to enjoy interacting with kids without the pressures of a school curriculum, for example, or pre-health students may learn more about caring for kids with a variety of medical needs. Healthcare professionals can see the patient as a whole outside of a hospital or clinic setting. It can also help you learn new skills, like teamwork, leadership, or conflict resolution. In this role, you'll develop creative solutions to issues and problems, employ risk management techniques to ensure camper safety, and act as a positive role model for both campers and counselors alike. Camp provides ample opportunities to develop skills that will continue to benefit you in the real world. Gain New Perspectives Camp brings together a variety of people with a variety of life experiences. You may never have seen a child with a port scar before, or heard a sibling talk about the emotional weight of seeing their brother go through countless painful treatments as a child. You will gain unique insights into the world of pediatric cancer and the many ways it impacts patients and their families. It’s also common to see a lot of kindness and joy at camp - a refreshing reminder of all of the goodness that exists in our loud and chaotic world. Have A Blast! At the end of the day, our camps are about having fun. Away from your desk and electronics, you’ll spend time laughing and getting messy, singing camp songs, and getting to know of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s not uncommon for volunteers to leave with lasting memories and friendships, just like our campers do.
