Job Summary: Our nonprofit organization is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our IT team. This role involves developing and maintaining scalable and efficient software deployment processes. The ideal candidate will facilitate collaboration between development and operations teams to improve productivity, reduce system downtime, and ensure continuous delivery with optimal performance. Key Responsibilities: System Automation: Automate and streamline our operations and processes for software development and infrastructure management. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments. Continuous Integration and Deployment: Design and implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines to allow quick and effective release of software. Work with testing and development teams to understand changes in software and configure systems accordingly. Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize infrastructure as code using platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Ensure security best practices in the setup and maintenance of virtual and physical infrastructures. Performance Monitoring: Monitor, analyze, and report performance statistics for cloud-hosted environments. Implement monitoring tools to preemptively find problems and resolve them. Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with software developers and other IT staff to ensure the system consistency and improve efficiency. Provide systems support including responding to outages, analyzing and resolving production issues, and implementing appropriate fixes. Security and Compliance: Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats. Work with the security team to implement organizational policies regarding system security. Documentation: Document and design various processes; update existing processes. Improve infrastructure development and application development. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role. Proficient with git and git workflows. Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and AWS. Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible). Knowledge of scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP, Groovy, Bash. Experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring. Strong knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and multi-cloud integration. Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Kubernetes. Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management. Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects with tight deadlines effectively. Skills: Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration. A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl, and/or Ruby). Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
