Mission Statement

The Cat Network, Inc. (CN) is a 501(c)3, Florida not-for-profit corporation dedicated to humanely reducing cat overpopulation by educating the public about the need to sterilize their pets and strays; providing access to low-cost spay/neuter services for stray, homeless and abandoned cats; helping members in their efforts to place adoptable cats in loving homes; and advocating non-lethal population control and humane public policy.

Description

The Cat Network, Inc. is dedicated to reducing the overpopulation of stray and feral cats in South Florida through the humane practice of sterilization, vaccination, and release. This, of course, is assuming the stray cats do have some source of food. We hope that through this program, fewer cats will have to be euthanized at county facilities.

The Cat Network, Inc. has an adoption referral program available to members only, which assists in finding homes for rescued stray cats and kittens. Potential adopters are thoroughly screened over the phone and at shows.

We also have an education arm and an advocacy arm to teach the public about the advantages of Trap, Neuter, Return.

My 2 daughters were dying to volunteer at this Kendall location as they go in there every time we are in the vicinity to pet the animals. Nonetheless, this organization's contact NEVER returned calls or emails. The store would only refer us to her so we never got the chance to participate. There must be a long line of volunteers on a waiting list.

I volunteered at the PetSmart in Palmetto Bay near the falls mall a lot last year for volunteer hours. The woman who was running it was not the most loving to the cats. She picked them up their scruffs and complained when there were any issues. One time a cat threw up while I was there. I cleaned it up without any problems but she just said how bad the cat was for doing it when he was obviously sick. She throws them into their cages and really is just mean to not only the cats, but also the volunteers. I loved working with the cats & other volunteers, but as soon as I had my hours, I did not want to deal with her. I feel bad for the cats, and I hope they find better homes.

I would recommend this organization to a friend because she loves animals as much as I do. Also since we're in highschool we need to do our community service hours and this organization could be an amazing opportunity for us.

This seems like a good way to volunteer, especially if you have a busy schedule. Plus helping cats to get adopted looks like fun.
