ReClaim It! is a unique non-profit resale store that gleans nearly everything we sell from the Metro Transfer Station. We are reducing the waste stream, while sourcing a one of a kind volunteer run store with many unique items. We sell to local artists, neighbors and the general public to inspire reuse, repair, and reimagination. Reclaim it! is located at 1 N. Killingsworth (at Williams, not too far from PCC- Cascade campus). Our team of wonderful people give of their time cleaning and fixing items, setting up in-shop displays, creating DIY demo items, and being a friendly face helping customers at our re-sale store. All staff, volunteers & customers must wear a mask inside our building & follow Covid 19 protocols. You can sign up for flexible volunteer shifts to help out when the store is open on Tues-Sun between 11:00-5:00 pm. Other volunteer opportunities include going to the Metro Waste Transfer Station in NW Pdx to glean treasures, and helping load up our found treasures on Thursdays at 11am. The first step to get started is to schedule an in-person tour and orientation. We send you some materials to review in advance to make best use of in person time. Folks usually come in for at least an hour to get oriented and to try out working with us. See ww.reclaimitpdx.org for more details.

We rescue items from the trash for creative re-use! We need help loading our UHaul on most Thursday afternoons at the transfer station. Volunteers meet at the shop on N Killingsworth around 11am and travel in the rental truck to the transfer station in NW. There, they load the truck, drive back to the shop and then unload. The shifts are generally about 2-2.5 hours. We seek to have 4 folks each week for ease & safety. Every week our volunteer gleaners select items from the NW Transfer station so they are kept out of the landfill. Helping load items from our temporary storage area into the truck to get them back to our store is a key way of helping the mission. We clean fix and sell these items for re-use, upcycling and creative re-imagination at our non-profit store at 1 N. Killingsworth. So far we've kept over 600,000 pounds out of the waste stream. Good candidates for loading are able bodied and not afraid to get dirty. A general ReClaim It! volunteer orientation is required prior to loading. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and long shirt & pants, and leather gloves to keep safe whenever you go to the dump! Other volunteer opportunities are available on other days/times too. Gleaning training is available after 20 hours after contributing volunteer time. Learn more about us at www.reclaimitpdx.org

ReClaim It! is a unique resale store dedicated to curbing waste. Nearly everything in our shop is gleaned from the Metro Central Transfer Station. That's right, the dump! We sell these salvaged materials to educate the public about the enormity of the wastestream and inspire reuse, repair, and reimagination in our community. We have a wonderful team of volunteers who do everything from staffing the shop to cleaning newly rescued items, to yes, even going to the Metro Waste Transfer Station to glean treasures! A few of the activities we're seeking volunteers to help with are: Cleaning newly gleaned items Creating engaging in-shop displays Gleaning items from the waste transfer station (Possible after 20 hours of in-shop volunteering, staff approval, one in-shop training, and one on-site training) Repairing found items

Description
Crackedpots is a local non-profit supporting waste reduction through creative reuse. In the past, we have hosted community events and art shows featuring artists using sustainable methods and cast-away materials. Today, you can find our unique wares at our retail storefront, ReClaim It, where we rescue items from the city dump, the community, and our neighbors to encourage inspired reimagining of slightly worn and unwanted items. Currently, we offer a Repair Training Program where volunteers learn the handy, fix-it skills needed to make a worn item useful again. Another unique program is our GLEAN Artist Residency where local artists rescue items from the city's transfer station to create gallery-worthy art. If sustainability is important to you and you've been wanting a new, creative way to help clean this earth, come join us in upcycling on your free time!
