Volunteer Drivers Save Lives!

Do you have a passion to help people? Do you feel called to make a difference? Be a hero to a domestic violence survivor by driving them to safety! Families to Freedom transports victims of domestic abuse to safety. This means a ride to a domestic violence shelter or to a family home anywhere in the United States. You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town, across North Texas or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority! This mission is important and only possible with YOU as our volunteer driver. Some more info: Weekday daytime drives are in high demand! You can choose to accept or decline a drive - no pressure! We arrange survivor pick-ups in a safe public place. Many of our survivors travel with children - we provide the car seats! Families to Freedom provides the vehicle (or use your own) and covers all travel costs! Training is conducted for our drivers in-person at a location near you. Explore America and drive survivors of abuse to safety!

Do you have an itch to explore America? Do you have a desire to help survivors of abuse? This might be the volunteer opportunity you've been looking for! Here at Families to Freedom we are dependant on volunteer drivers to carry out our mission statement to "Transport victims of domestic abuse to safety." We urgently need amazing people like you to drive victims to safety. We receive calls from victims every day, but we are unable to meet every need without your help! Volunteer drivers pick up victims at a safe public location and bring them a family or friend home far away or to a domestic violence shelter in Houston and surrounding areas(like Beaumont, Lufkin, and Jasper). Volunteer safety is our #1 priority and we have strict protocols to keep you safe. Travel costs are paid for by the organization including: food, lodging, tolls and gas. You also have the option to use one of our company vehicles for travel.You have the freedom to decide how far you are able to drive: across town or beyond the Texas border. Critera for volunteers: Must be 21 years old, pass a criminal and driving background check, and attend all volunteer trainings.

Do you want to be personally involved in helping someone? Do you want to bear witness to a victim's journey to safety? Be a hero to a domestic violence survivor by driving them to safety! You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest. We're looking for each volunteer to complete 2 rides per week. You'll pick-up the survivor from a safe public location and drive them to a crisis center or family home far away. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority! This mission is important and only possible with YOU as our volunteer driver. We provide and install child car seats for those traveling with children. We reimburse for the cost of gas and tolls (or use 1 our vehicles). Not sure you'll be up for a trip when one comes along? Take a pass with no pressure from us. We receive calls for help daily during business hours. Orientation and training is conducted in-person in our Houston office.

Mission Statement

Our mission is transport victims of domestic abuse to safety.

Description

Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across the region, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve victims and new survivors across North Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast area. We drive over 900 victims and children each year between two offices located in Dallas and Houston. We rely on the generous support of the community to continue providing these services at no cost to the victims who call us.

The people I've met as a volunteer driver have made me feel so blessed. I'm happy to be able to help them with this step in their journey and to show them that someone cares. The office staff are very supportive and friendly. It is one of the most fulfilling volunteer positions I've ever held.
