Change Lives - Want to be directly involved in a life saving, life changing service? Assist in offering victims a fresh start going to a safe place. Give words of encouragement and faith that their future will be better! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS WHO: + Ages 21+ + Have a good driving record + Can pass a criminal background check + Have a smartphone + Have time to drive survivors of domestic violence from a safe pickup place in North Texas to an emergency shelter or to a family home far away. HOW FAR DO VOLUNTEERS DRIVE? + DFW Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter, all within the DFW Metroplex. Weekdays only- daytime is most common. + North Texas Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter 1 to 2 hours from the DFW area. Weekdays- daytime is most common. + Multi-State Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to another state; this may take several hours or a few days, depending on the destination. Weekends, weekdays, holidays- whenever you're able! INTERESTED YET? KEEP READING... + You always choose to accept or decline a drive - No pressure! Set a personal goal to help weekly or monthly at your pace. + We arrange survivor pick-ups in a safe, public place - usually in or near Dallas. Victims of abuse in your area need help arriving to crisis centers in the Deep East and Gulf Coast area. Be a hero to a domestic violence survivor by driving them to safety! Families to Freedom transports victims of domestic abuse to safety. This means a ride to or from Conroe or the North Houston area driving survivors to a domestic violence shelter. You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country. There's a reason you saw this need today. Don't turn your back on those who need your help. This mission is important and only possible with YOU as our volunteer driver. Details: Weekday daytime drives are in high demand! You can choose to accept or decline a drive - no pressure! It takes a lot to leave an abuser -- Courage. Planning. Resources. Help. We get calls for service everyday from survivors trying to restart life after violence, but we need more volunteer drivers to keep up with the demand. We need an awesome person like you! Assist victims making their break from abuser by driving them to safety! You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest. You just need to be 21+, have a good driving record, pass a background check, and a heart to help. We ONLY allow our volunteers to pick-up survivors in a safe public place such as a retail store, shelter, hospital, hotel lobby or police station. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority. There is no contact with an abuser. Transporting a survivor traveling with children? We prepare the car seat for you. Worried about the cost of gas, tolls, food and lodging? We pay it. Don't want to use your personal car? Use one of ours. Not sure you'll be up for a trip when one comes along? Decline any drive you wish with no pressure from us.
