Patient Visitor Volunteer (St. Lucie and Martin Counties)

Volunteer-Led Organization Since 1982, volunteers have led our organization, and they continue to do so today. An integral part of our team, volunteers play many roles from working with patients, families and pets to providing organizational direction as a member of our board of directors. Volunteers assist in fulfilling our mission and add great value to the experience of the patients and families we serve. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers and their generosity of time and spirit. Patient Visitor Volunteer Visit patients and families to provide respite, companionship and support. Volunteers offer comfort and companionship to the patient by reading, talking or just being present. And volunteers provide valuable respite opportunities for families and caregivers by staying with a patient so that they may attend to personal errands or to simply recharge. This position requires empathy, patience and compassion.

Veterans to Veterans - We Honor Veterans (St. Lucie and Martin Counties)

Treasure Coast Hospice is proud to be a certified Level Five We Honor Veterans Partner with Veterans Affairs and other veterans organizations. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to providing quality care and services to veterans and their families in our communities. We are honored to care for veterans with advanced illness, wherever they live in their family homes, assisted living residences, skilled nursing facilities or hospitals. As a We Honor Veteran (WHV) partner, Treasure Coast Hospice is focused on ensuring that excellent care at the end of life is available for our nation’s veterans and that support is available for their families. We use the WHV military checklist to access and provide individual education to each veteran and family. This WHV tool allows us to disseminate the current end-of-life needs as it relates to the veteran and their family. The following activities and events are examples of the many resources Treasure Coast Hospice provides to make a positive impact in the veteran's end-of-life care: Treasured Veterans Veteran to Veteran Patient Visits Veteran Honoring ceremonies (individual and group) Veteran Presidential Certificate application assistance Community Veteran Events Veteran-Hospice Partnerships Veteran Resources - From Veterans Affairs Veteran Benefits Education Veteran Volunteer Program Our Veteran Volunteer Program pairs recruited Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients who have been identified as veterans. Once paired with hospice patients who also have military experience, Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with each patient, thereby creating an environment where life reflection and healing may occur. Veteran Pinning Ceremony A Veteran Pinning Ceremony is an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by the veteran and his/her family. The ceremony, conducted by a Veteran Volunteer, honors and recognizes a hospice patient’s service to our country and helps them and their loved ones find closure and peace at the end of life.Treasure Coast Hospice provides volunteer training to its veterans in the Veteran Volunteer Program.

Treasured Pets Volunteer (St. Lucie and Martin Counties)

Treasured Pets is a service offered by Treasure Coast Hospice to assist hospice patients with the care of their beloved pets. We understand a pet’s contribution to the emotional and spiritual well-being of a patient and his or her family. Just as we are there for our patients, we are there for their pets also! Our goal is to help maintain the general health and a balanced lifestyle for the pet at a time when it may be difficult for the family to do so alone. We help to relieve the strain on the patient or family regarding their pet presently, as well as concern for its future. The success of this program depends upon a dedicated group of compassionate volunteers who assist in the care of our patients' pets. Become a Treasured Pets volunteer today by getting involved in any one of the following opportunities: Dog walker and active dog play Delivery of pet food and supplies (purchased by the Treasured Pets program) Assist patients and families with veterinary and grooming visits, including transporting pets to appointments Treasure Coast Hospice provides our volunteers with the required training for this program. Special skills and preferances: Must be an animal lover and comfortable around animals We are in need of volunteers who can handle and are comfortable around large dogs Particular need for volunteers in Stuart, Fort Pierce and the Tradition area of Saint Lucie County

Thrift Boutique Volunteer - Stuart

Use your expertise in a retail setting by preparing merchandise and assisting shoppers in our Thrift Boutique! Volunteers also receive a store discount. I have worked with the volunteers at Treasure Coast Hospice for more than a year and found them to be dedicated to the mission and very caring individuals. They make it a great environment to volunteer, whether at the Thrift Store, Hospice House, administrative offices or in patient facilities. Thank you for all you do for our patients and families!
