Mission Statement

Working to reduce the effects of senior isolation by bringing together community resources and volunteers.

Description

The Area Agency on Aging and Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County are spearheading the Neighbor Helping Neighbor program to assist socially isolated seniors ages 60 and older. Socially isolated seniors are those who do not have access to resources, who are living alone without assistance from friends or family, or who are experiencing feelings of loneliness as a result of being isolated from their community. Volunteers and professionals from neighborhood and church groups, government, businesses and human service organizations provide a variety of services that may include transportation, minor home repairs, wheelchair ramps, safety equipment, yard maintenance, visits by phone and in person, and meals. Our goal is to help these separate entities form a sustainable network that can provide these services to isolated seniors for years to come.
