Would you recommend Household Goods?
I am 59 years old retired and have plenty of time to provide service to the community and this makes me very excited
At Household Goods, the ability to help those in need is immediate and tangible. We greet donors at the door, help fill out donation receipts and put the donations in the showroom. Later that same day, families in need stop in (by appointment) to pick out the things they need for their homes. We help them find what they need and load up their vehicles. It is a wonderful place- volunteers are really empowered to make a difference in peoples' lives! :))) And it is a FUN environment!
HGRM is a great organization. We have a fun group of volunteers, from teens to seniors, and the work is very rewarding. If you join us, you will be on the front lines of changing peoples' lives, and you'll have the chance to interact with a fascinating cross-section of humanity.
I've been a volunteer at HGRM for about seven years, and my involvement keeps growing. I work with clients to help them furnish their "new" (to them) homes, I drive trucks to pick up furniture donations, and I've gotten involved in some of the behind-the-scenes work to keep things running smoothly. I've gone from a few hours per week to several days per week, and I thoroughly enjoy it.
Please join us!
Incredible mission - wonderful people. Lots of options for working - drive a truck, help load and unload household goods, work with clients when they come for furnishings, help with PR or marketing or grant writing, or work in the shop to repair stuff. If you have a talent, HGRM can use it! Full-time volunteer coordinator makes scheduling really easy. At HGRM you KNOW you are making a difference even if you are only there a few hours a week.
