Description

Honoring diverse hopes and needs by empowering volunteers to make meaningful connections. Providence Hospice volunteers serve patients and families throughout Thurston, Mason and Lewis Counties, wherever they may call home (private residence, nursing facility, adult family home, etc.). Volunteers play a key role in their own communities providing support and comfort to those who are facing terminal illness.

We offer opportunities for volunteers to uphold client agency and autonomy in pursuit of their goals, gain new skills and empower you to be an informed advocate.  All roles support our core values of compassion, justice, dignity, integrity, and excellence. Our team will help you discover your strengths and guide you toward your best role. Comprehensive training is tailored to each position to ensure you are confident and comfortable in your responsibilities.

Volunteering for Providence SoundHomeCare is a wonderful way to serve our community. Staff and volunteers are a cohesive family unit, supporting one another as we serve patients and families experiencing the end of life journey. The training and continuing support/training available to us is stellar. It is a very sacred time for patient and families and serving them is such a blessing and more rewarding than words can express. Each patient and family member have touched my heart in very special ways. I highly recommend volunteering with Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice... Join us!

I have been volunteering with a Providence Sound Homecare and Hospice for 8 years. It is such a meaningful and needed service. I really appreciate the training and support given to volunteers. The staff is wonderfull to work with. The tasks are varied, I believe they do an excellent job of fitting volunteers needs and interests as well as a sincere focus on the needs of the Hospice families.

Volunteering for SoundHomeCare and Hospice has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I had no idea what to expect, but have been met with warmth, understanding, and competency all along the way. The training was comprehensive, and allowed me to start building relationships with other volunteers and the staff. I've loved how the volunteer coordinators can work with with my schedule, and the monthly volunteer lunches are super informative, moving, and delicious! If you are on the fence about whether hospice volunteering is for you, I'd urge you to give it a try. It's been life-changing for me and I'm amazed at the gifts it's brought to my life when I'M the one that's supposed to be doing the giving!
