It really doesn't take much effort. It helps my current patient just by holding her hand during tv time. I talk to the other residents in the lobby too so the impact is great because it makes someone's day just to have a simple chat about the day and be a companion.

I get to meet great individuals with stories to tell, learn about their lives, and provide companionship. Brookdale Hospice has individuals in need of volunteers all around the Dallas-Forth Worth area which makes the volunteering easy and accessible regardless where one lives. Many people say that hospice is depressing or sad, but when visiting the focus is on enjoying life and sharing wonderful memories.
