Meals on Wheels OC offers group volunteering opportunties at our Congregate Lunch Programs that are held across 24 site in Northern and Central Orange County. In this role, you will be helping staff members/volunteers with preparing hot meals to serve to seniors at the site in a luncheon style setting. You may either help at the check-in desk, kitchen, serve meals or drinks to the seated seniors, or assist with after lunch clean-up. We are able to accodate up to groups roughly of 6-10 volunteers depending on the site. Note: For this position, you must be able to stand, bend, reach, use hands and arms throughout your shift. In this role, you would be using your own car to deliver food to homebound seniors each week. You will meet at a site location to pick up meals then deliver in your routed area. Routes take between 1-1.5 hours to complete, on average. The shifts for this position is on Tuesdays and or Wednesdays and start time is between 9:30 am and 10:00 am. For this position you will need to be able to lift at least 10 lbs. Note: This position requires a background check that has a small fee of $20 depending on which state(s) you lived in. You will provide us with your updated schedule every 1-3 weeks and will be placed on our on-calls list. Training and orientation will be done off and on-site prior to your driving routes.
