Daisy Troop Leaders generally work with their Troop of girls for periods of 9-12 months, and all our volunteer positions are flexible! Volunteer Position Descriptions: Troop Leader Summary: The troop leader s primary responsibility is managing girl-led activities that address all four pillars (STEM, Outdoors, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship) of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The position requires that this individual provide direct service to the girls and help them build strong leadership skills. The troop leader will also lead the girls in the five outcomes of Girl Scouts. These include goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. Responsibilites: Role model Girl Scout behaviors consistent with the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Manage all paperwork and communications until the girls are of appropriate age to do so for themselves Encourage girl involvement to choose badge work, highest awards, community service & take action projects, troop activities and money management Participate in all required training offered by GSHPA to stay aware of updates in policies & procedures, troop banking requirements, and programming opportunitiesfor the girls, staying current in all aspects of Council required training's, communications, and processes Provide updates to GSHPA staff liaison as requested, such as forms that are needed for activities and troop participation Participate in activities within the community periodically to further strengthen the Girl Scout Mission, by recruiting new Girls and Adult Volunteers Maintain regularly scheduled meetings and troop activities chosen by the girls Help develop healthy conflict resolution within the troop and resolve all conflicts or difficulties in a healthy way Participate in all required training's offered by GSHPA to stay aware of updates in policies & procedures, troop banking requirements and programming opportunities for the girls Use GSUSA online software to be able to register volunteers and girls yearly, track progress in product program and to register for events Share GSHPA communications with parents and fellow volunteers Co-Manage troop bank account and budget troop finances Position Commitments: Maintain a current GSHPA membership Complete all required background checks every five years Comply with GSHPA policies, Standards and Guidelines, Safety Activities Checkpoints, Volunteer Essentials, and GSUSA Policies Required Training: New Leader Orientation 1 New Leader Orientation 2 Money Management CPR First Aid This position will be supported by: Service Unit Lead for your area, GSHPA Staff Liaison , Troop Banking Specialist, and Troop Activity Chaperone.
