Be the connection between Crittenton Children's Center and the Greater Kansas City community by participating in a group volunteer project. Group volunteer opportunities are available for corporate and community groups: Behind the scenes: Help sort and organize clothing donations, make caring card (craft type project), prepare for events or wrap presents during the holidays. Dates and times are flexible. With the children we serve: Provide meaningful opportunities for youth living in our facility to just be "kids" through fun activities that provide them social engagement, educational enrichment, emotional support, and companionship. Game time, theme events, holiday events, educational opportunities and more. We are open to your ideas!

Visit with patients, ages 4-12, on our pre-adolescent psychiatric hospital unit. Provide companionship and emotional support to a specific unit of approximately 5-12 patients. Volunteers are encouraged to engage patients in a structured activity, such as: playing a board game, reading a book, leading an art or craft project and just talking. Many of our patients benefit from one-on-one time with caring volunteer. Volunteer shifts are available 10-11:30am, 12-2pm or 4-7pm, Monday-Friday and weekends. Volunteer can come once a week or multiple days each week.

Barrett Circle is a group of women who make quilts as well as simple sewing projects to support Crittenton Children's Center. Meetings are held at 10:30am on the second Wednesday of the month, September through May, in various homes. Quilting is a plus, but those with only basic sewing skills are welcome as well. If you enjoy sewing and would like to help children and teens, this is a great opportunity. Doesn't require a huge time commitment and projects can also be done at home.

Do you have a positive attitude? Are you a good listener? Do you enjoy talking to teenagers? Have you considered being a mentor? Mentors provide friendship, encouragement and support to their mentee. Just a few hours a week can have a life changing impact on a teen. Activities include, but are not limited to: talking, playing games, having meals together, helping with homework, teaching a life skill (i.e. filling out a job application), phone calls and outings. We are actively seeking new Mentors for teens in our foster care, in-home services and residential treatment areas.

We are seeking an individual (or small group) to sort, inventory and organize clothing donations for our foster care clothes closet. Could be once a week for 1-2 hours, or once a month for a few hours. We receive lots of clothing donations, but need someone to help sort and organize so it is easy for our foster families to find what is needed.
