Description
Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is a locally governed, self-sustaining affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are a non-profit organization committed to overcoming substandard housing through the building of affordable, decent homes with families.
We build homes with families in need of safe, decent, affordable housing.Habitat in your community and around the world have built over half a million homes. Since we have been operating in Whatcom County, beginning in 1988, we’ve completed 40 homes and housed more than 150 Whatcom County residents.
Habitat works in partnership with families in need of decent, affordable housing and community volunteers, businesses, churches and other civic organizations. We repair, build, and sell good, affordable homes so that families can build a strong foundation for the future.
We provide home building, and mortgage financing for residents earning less than 60% of the area median income. We refer families who do not meet our qualifications to other local resources. Also we offer affordable home furnishings, appliances, and building materials to the public at the Habitat Store as a service to our community and to offset our operational costs.
