Mission Statement
Volunteers are always needed at Scripps Health. We are recruiting for volunteers to for many of our sites. The most rewarding reason to volunteer cannot be measured. As a volunteer, you gain valuable experience, learn new skills, make friends and meet others who share the same values and interests. Our volunteers’ efforts are appreciated by staff, physicians, patients and their families and enhance the overall level of care we provide.
Description
Scripps Health volunteers touch the lives in many ways. Volunteers greet patients and visitors, assist patients at their bedside, support patient’s family members in the waiting rooms, and assist staff members in clinical areas. Our volunteers give thousands of hours of service each year in many different ways.
Volunteers must be willing to make a commitment to volunteering at least one shift a week. Scripps Health volunteers include high school and college students, homemakers, part-time workers, retired persons and seniors. Volunteers may have unique opportunities to work in the emergency department, intensive care unit, or surgery.
Volunteer trainingAfter an initial interview and health screening, volunteers are assigned to an area of their choice and attend a site orientation. We offer training programs and continuing education to help volunteers remain efficient and effective.

The most rewarding reason to volunteer cannot be measured. As a volunteer, you gain valuable experience, learn new skills, make friends and meet others who share the same values and interests. I have been volunteering for almost 3 years now and enjoy what I do immensely! The bennies include using your valuable life skills for a good cause, meeting new friends and a FREE flu shot plus TDAP every year (tee-hee :)
Perhaps most rewarding of all is the patient's appreciation. A warm smile or encouraging word can mean as much to a patient as the service I provide. Scripps offers volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas. Plus, you'll receive volunteer training in a professional, friendly environment, to make you feel comfortable and confident. They are committed to the success of the volunteers.
