Mission Statement
The Museum of Prairiefire Foundation (Museum at Prairiefire) is committed to innovative learning in science, the arts and natural history. Through a founding collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, as well as with other cultural and educational institutions in the nation, the Museum at Prairiefire (MAP) is a place that provides ACCESS FOR ALL to understand and celebrate natural history and science in our region and around the world. The MAP engages visitors and students of all ages with world-class exhibitions, important programming, and provides significant educational and STEAM opportunities for underserved children through KC Urban Advantage.
Description
The Museum at Prairiefire (MAP) was established in 2010 based on a pioneering content partnership with the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). Focused on enhancing public understanding of natural history and science, we proudly present an ongoing flow of world-class traveling exhibitions organized by the American Museum of Natural History and other cultural and educational institution in the nation. The Museum at Prairiefire also offers engaging permanent halls and experiences, educational programs for all ages, as well as our Discovery Room, which is an exciting gateway to hands-on scientific exploration for children ages three and older featuring insight into 6 major fields of scientific study. The Museum is the cultural anchor of Prairiefire, a 58-acre mixed-use project that integrates residential, office, retail and entertainment.
