Would you recommend Crossroads Hospice?
I love to volunteer with this group. I have watched a couple who have been married for 51 years have a beautiful moment facilitated by the Cross Roads Staff. I have been able to honor veterans in ceremonies fitting of their service. I have spent hours smiling and talking learning about the some of the greatest generation. If you are thinking about volunteering this is a organization that cares.
They showed me you can make a difference in a life and it doesn't take any more than a 45 minute visit.
My family was involved with a Crossroads Hospice organization in 2004 with the illness and death of my husband. We were not only impressed with, but grew to love all the people we came in contact with from Crossroads. They were so supportive of my husband and our family including our only grandchild. After a period of time, I knew I wanted to give back to that organization who helped us so much. I started volunteering with the Cincinnati office then with the Dayton office after they opened. It has been such a wonderful experience for me. I have met the most interesting people who have greatly enriched my life. Some of my friends don't see how I can do it but walking with someone as they prepare for the absolute greatest transition of their lives is not so difficult. With the Crossroads folks doing everything they can to make the trip as perfect and painless as possible, I have just had the opportunity to visit, laugh, pray, listen and completely enjoy the entire experience.
Crossroads Hospice makes us feel like part of their team and encourages us to keep involved in providing services. For my wife, Shirle,y and I it is more fun than work to visit with those families involved with Crossroads. We have a 5 year-old Chihuahua and a 1 year-old Pomeranian that go with us on our visits. It is amazing to see the response from the folks we visit. Many times they are almost asleep until our puppies jump on their bed or wheelchair and it's as if a light is turned on. Most of them pet the pups and many try to talk to them, and almost all of them get a twinkle in their eyes. I'm glad that Crossroads has given us the opportunity to bring a little something special to the folks who are preparing to move on.
Crossroads is an excellent organization that cares for people at the most critical time in their lives. The compassion, kindness, generosity, and level of caring of the staff and volunteers can never be put into simple words. Each person involved no matter their position, or level of involment gives 110%. They care for the patient and for the families involved giving full support. I would recomend Crossroads to anyone who asked.
I love working with Crossroads Hospice. It is so rewarding to assist others in the hospice setting. I never thought my journey would take me into this world (I thought I was going to do pet therapy with kids) and now here I am in a music ministry to these folks!! The volunteer coordinators do a wonderful job of matching what you are comfortable with and give you great training (initial and on going) and make it abundantly clear that you are supported and a valued member of the team. You will enjoy them and feel special doing whatever it is that you do.
I have been a voluteer with Crossroads for alomost 4 years. The staff is amazing to work with and what they do to provide care and comfort is such a need. They provide training, support, and a personal touch - something that clearly shows a compassion for what they do. Why Hospice? I say, why not? Providing a level of care during the most critical times in ones life is such a blessing to be part of. Crossroads provides a service and we support Crossroads in that service because I believe in what they do. My family has used Hospice, thus the reason why we are invovled. Watching all the support team in action at Crossroads, it is clear this is more than just a job, but a choice. Blessings are given to share...it is clear Crossroads embraces this Godly direction.
The work that Crossroads does really makes a difference in the quality of the lives of many individuals and families, and the staff has been wonderful to work with. As a volunteer with this organization I have had the opportunity to do everything from sing, make crafts, help with community presentations, do Veteran recognitions, as well as office work. I love that there are so many varied volunteer opportunities at Crossroads that enable me to bless others at a very crucial time in their lives.
