Have you ever wanted to Volunteer with Red Cross? Well, here is your chance! As a Red Cross Volunteer- in this role you'll provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. Engage with blood donors to promote blood donation and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Express gratitude and ensure each blood donor is sincerely thanked for their donation. This is NOT a Phlebotomy role! TITLE: Volunteer Blood Drive Donor Ambassador DUTIES: Greet blood donors. Check each donor in using iPad or electronic device. Attend to donors in the Hospitality Area by ensuring that each donor is recognized for his/her contribution and watched for possible adverse physical reactions. Set up and maintain cleanliness in Reception and Hospitality Areas. May make reminder calls or reschedule donor appointments. Please note: Blood Drives (and volunteer needs) are mostly during business hours on weekdays & some weekends. This is NOT a Phlebotomy role. Requirements: Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds Ability to understand technology needed for position: Donor Check-in, Donor Tablet, Rapid Pass, Donor App. On-boarding with the American Red Cross Biomedical Dept. Donor Ambassador Training TIME COMMITMENT: Sign up for at least two (2) blood drives each month (4-6 hours). Daytime and Weekend availability ONLY! Liaise with local authorities by phone and computer, serving critical communications need. Dispatch and support Red Cross disaster responders. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER POSITION. Responsibilities: Process requests from local authorities, determining if Red Cross action is warranted based on event triggers (i.e., size, scope, and type of event). All training provided, along with back-up support as needed. Dispatch disaster response teams & resources and provide remote support. Complete and share documentation. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and stay current on all training. Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor. Commitment: Please understand that this is a volunteer opportunity ONLY Virtual regional VOLUNTEER position using home phone and Internet covering the entire Eastern NY Region. Customizable on-call three 4-6 hour shifts per month which you schedule. If nothing happens during your window of availability, go about your normal day. But if there is an event, the expectation is you can put aside what you are doing to respond. Qualifications: Must reside in Eastern NY Minimum age 18. As a Disaster Action Team Specialist Volunteer, you can be a source of refuge and support when it’s needed most. From home fires to storms, unexpected emergencies happen every day, but you can help by getting trained as a Red Cross Volunteer Duties: Respond as part of an assigned team to a home fire or other local disaster within two hours of notification Deliver immediate direct client assistance in accordance with Red Cross standards and procedures Assess the need for additional resources or support and communicate that need to leadership Use a Red Cross online portal to enter and maintain client information Attend regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings and training sessions as required Time Commitment: -Participate in at least one shift per week Requirements: Compassion and patience working with individuals affected by disaster Ability to manage multiple tasks and make decisions in a stressful environment Ability to work in challenging conditions such as poor air quality, uneven ground, and adverse weather Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Fluency with computer systems and mobile devices Respond to fires, floods, or other emergency events Must be 18+ with valid driver's license Still have questions?
