Southern Anoka Community Assistance Food Shelf is in need of many volunteers to help hungry neighbors. Since the pandemic, food shelves have been vital in giving out nutritious food to community members who found themselves unemployed or under-employed. Currently, inflation is taking a toll on already financially strapped community members. SACA is invites volunteers to serve in these areas: Food Market Give a helping hand and assist clients while they pick out their groceries in the food market. Volunteers assist clients shop, stock shelves and keep the area clean. You will need to lift up to 20 lbs. Warehouse Volunteer The true backbone of SACA's operation is the warehouse. Help sort and check dates of food, stock shelves, unload the truck(s), organize and keep the area clean. Ideally volunteers would be able to lift 20-30 lbs. Shifts are available M-Th in morning or afternoon. Intake/Administration Assistant If you enjoy interacting with people, consider volunteering for the intake/administration position! As the first point of contact for clients, you will help them schedule appointments, check-in and may assist with other administrative tasks. Intake volunteers are needed on Tuesday through Thursday in the mornings or afternoons.

Become an Anoka County Ambassador volunteer! The Anoka County Ambassador Program provides volunteers with first-hand experience in various facets of Anoka Court Administration. This is an excellent opportunity for citizens who would like to make an impact in our community. The ambassador serves as the first point of contact for our diverse population. Ambassadors may perform a variety of tasks, depending on the current need. The ambassador will help direct the flow of traffic during high volume court calendars. In addition, the ambassador may assist with transcribing responses to court forms for litigants that cannot write in English. The County Ambassador is a representative of the court; their presence will help promote safety and efficiency as well as create a positive and welcoming environment for constituents. Join Manna Market at Substance Church where over 1,700+ meals are provided to local neighbors per week! Manna markets partner with local stores (various grocery stores, Target, and Wal-Mart locations) where useable food is picked-up, sorted, and given to people on distribution days offered a few times each week. Interested volunteers can choose their preferred day and choose to serve weekly, bi-weekly and do not have to complete an entire shift. Here are several immediate opportunities available: Mondays | 8 am-10 am set-up, 1:00 PM-3:30 PM pack boxes with non-perishable items and non-refridgerated produce, 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM pick refridgerated items during distribution and add it into boxes, 5:30 PM-7:30 PM clean-up. Thursdays | 8 am-10 am set-up, 1:00 PM-3:30 PM pack boxes with non-perishable items and non-refridgerated produce, 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM pick refridgerated items during distribution and add it into boxes, 5:30 PM-7:30 PM clean-up. Saturdays | 7:00 AM-9:30 AM to set-up, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM pick refridgerated items during distribution, clean-up 12 PM-2 PM.

Virtual Opportunity
Have fun with an engaging group while lending your expertise to the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Team. Advisory team members assists the project sponsor and staff to carry out its mission to engage men and women, age 55+, of all nationalities, capabilities, religious affiliations and gender, in meaningful volunteer opportunities that strengthens the well-being of both self and community. The vision of RSVP is to be a bridge between those who need and those who give. Advisory member(s) would reside in Anoka County MN and ideally be 55+ to have an understanding of geographical area and local needs. Responsibilities: 1. Advises and supports the RSVP project director in forming local policies. 2. Relays pertinent community information/distributes materials. 3. Provides ideas and/or contacts for developing new volunteer opportunities. 4. Is an ambassador of the RSVP program who may distribute marketing materials, attend volunteer engagement events and invite community members to make a meaningful impact by serving with areas of their interest(s). 5. Helps plan and participates in RSVP social event(s) or training events. 6. If applicable, Hears any grievance procedures filed by a RSVP member. Meeting Schedule: Regular meetings are: September, November, January, March, April, and June. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 2:00 PM. Most meetings are virtual via WebEX, with 1-2 taking place in-person.
