Mission Statement
The Foster Grandparent Program aims to place lower income seniors as mentors, tutors and friends to local children in the community schools and daycares that could benefit from extra love and encouragement that seniors have to offer! We are funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service as well as by the Area Agency on Aging.
Description
Make a Difference in the Life of a Child
The Foster Grandparent Program places seniors age 55 and older in schools, daycares, and head start classrooms as mentors, tutors, and friends to children in their local community that are in need of a little extra love and encouragement. If you are interested in serving as a Foster Grandparent, some of the benefits you will receive are a tax-free stipend, transportation assistance, paid time off, and paid training. Foster Grandparents serve a minimum of 15 hours a week, in sites close to their homes.
