Education and Program Assistant

Apply online: www.starkparks.com Volunteer will assist with the setup, tear down, and/or running of various types of Stark Park programs or events and to provide park visitors the opportunity to connect and appreciate the wonders found in Stark County. Registration (checking in participants) Working people of all ages including children Helping distribute and assist with crafts Being comfortable talking in front of people Assist with set up/tear down of event Help staff keep an eye on the safety and wellbeing of the participants If the job is a "trail sweep" being able to hike 2-3 miles and staying in the back of the group to make sure the group stays together Being adaptable to switch tasks as needed for the success of the program Being prepared for program conditions (if program is outside wearing appropriate gear/sunscreen/rainwear etc.) The park staff running the event will brief you on expectations before the program starts. No specific training should be needed unless otherwise specified in the volunteer request.

Trail Patrol

Trailblazers act as goodwill ambassadors and positive role models for park users while on foot, bicycle, horse, or kayak. They're also the eyes and ears of Stark Parks for our various functions. FeLeap or FeLeap Assistant (Stark Parks Mascot)

Meet and greet park patrons while portraying the park's official mascot "FeLeap." Volunteers will portray FeLeap during park events, parades or community events. FeLeap does not speak, and does share hugs, high fives, and handshakes with young and old. The FeLeap Assistant accompanies FeLeap at events, greeting guests and handing out park brochures.

Wildlife Center Rehab Volunteer

Trained volunteers serve as goodwill ambassadors for the Stark County Park District by assisting Wildlife Rehab staff in animal care and other daily work responsibilities in the department. · Provide information and serve as a positive role model to visitors · Feed and water Program Animals inside and outside · Clean cages as needed · Wash and put away pet taxis and other transport containers · Mist reptiles and amphibians · Daily miscellaneous housekeeping chores including laundry, dishes, general cleaning · Feed rehab neonates with additional training · Assist programming staff with animal handling needs with additional training · Must attend orientation at the Wildlife Center before completing the first volunteer shift. The Rehab position requires a minimum of two hours of volunteer time per week. More hours may be available depending on department needs.
