Mission Statement

The mission of Ulster Literacy Association, Inc. is to provide student-centered, free and confidential one-to-one tutoring of English language reading and writing skills to any person over the age of sixteen (16) who requests or is referred for our services.

Description

ULA conducts a tutor training 5 times a year in May, July, September, October, January, and April. It takes 18 hours and gives tutors valuable skills and techniques for working with an adult student. Teams meet 1-2 times a week for 1-2 hours. The team may continue for one year or more, depending on the student's goals. Instruction is individualized to the student's needs.
