Mission Statement

Camp Kesem is a college student run summer camp for kids with a parent who has (or has had) cancer. Our one-week sleep away camps are a chance for kids ages 6-16 to have a fun-filled week and just be kids. Everything we do at Camp Kesem focuses on our goal of giving campers the most fun week possible, while providing the extra support and attention that they need.

Description

Camp Kesem UCSD was founded in 2004. It is a week-long summer camp open to all children ages 6-13 and teens ages 14-16 who have a parent in treatment for cancer, in remission for cancer, or has passed away from cancer, regardless of financial status, race, religion, or nationality.

In 2013, our camp took place from June 23rd to the 29th. Location was at the Pathfinder Ranch campsite. The camp currently has 110 open camper spots, with a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio. Our goal the upcoming year is to provide 135 campers with a magical week of fun in a comfortable and supportive environment where they can build a strong network of friendships with peers undergoing a similar challenge.

Camp Kesem UCSD is completely developed, organized, and run by students of the University of California, San Diego, but is not affiliated with The University of California, San Diego in any way.
