Mission Statement

Our Mission: Miscarriage Matters, Inc. is a 501(c)3 public charity offering global support to parents devastated by Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Early Infant Loss through programs that educate the public, inspire healing through service to others, and empower the hurting. http://www.mymiscarriagematters.org/

Description

Our web based community offers support to the survivors of miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss. Members are offered a one-on-one support and mentoring program that is tailored to their individual needs.

They will be connected with a Women of Empowerment mentor or a Miscarriage Matters 2 Men mentor who will offer support and encouragement. Our goal is to assist those who seek comfort, in hopes that one day, they will be strong enough to reach back and "pay it forward" in hopes of pulling someone else up.

This isn't just a support group, we're friends. Friends who have all gone through the same horrible ordeal, but are using the loss of our little ones as fuel to provide comfort for others. If you're a survivor who's healed, we'd like to also take this opportunity to offer you the chance to "pay it forward" and volunteer.

I believe that I can help women in their time of support through virtual communication.

I first heard about miscarriage matters after losing my baby in November of 2013. I joined the Facebook group for women and also signed up for the mentor program. The group and my mentor were so helpful in getting through those first raw months. After a few months, I signed up to volunteer with Miscarriage Matters as a page monitor for the group page. It has been amazing watching women from all over the world come together, link arms and support one another through one of the toughest things one can experience. The people and heart behind miscarriage matters are amazing! I'm excited to see where it will go!

Miscarriage Matters Inc. changed my life. I had lost two Angels within the span of 5 months and was looking for a way to cope with my grief and at the same time honour my angels. I came across a Social Media assistant position posting and applied for it. I worked on various accounts till March 2015 when I went into labour. Through the various campaigns we worked on, I learned how to let go and help others at the same time. My designs and words were making a difference and that meant a lot to me. Please give your time to this organisation and you will not only become a better person but you will make a difference in the lives of so many families who are just looking for a way to remember their Angels. Thank you Miscarriage Matters for all the support and guidance you have given me.

I have been associated with Miscarriage Matters for 5 months now, and my experience has been very good. I have a mentor to coach me on the work that I am provided. The organization has an open door policy and individual ideas are being heard. The work culture is good and the team is quite accommodating.I would certainly recommend others to join the organization.

Shantay Miscarriage Matters Inc., is a place where hurting men and women come to receive support, encouraging words, or simply a listening ear. I wish this type of sincere support was around during my miscarriages. One thing that helps me is to be able to support others by volunteering my time. We are getting better with time as in life. It's great being able to help, support, and encourage others. Volunteering is a sacrifice of my time and I choose to make the best of my experiences. I am currently enjoying my time with Miscarriage Matters Inc. We laugh at time and we smile through our tears listening to some of the stories. Its like an extended family visit; always thinking about the work, enjoying when we can get together, and when we make great effective connections its helps everyone in the entire organization to volunteer at our best. We are here for each other and the men and women we serve on a daily basis. Our mission is to help the hurting.

MMs runs like a business, but on a volunteer basis. This is not necessarily an issue, but it does create confusion and animosity when you feel you are being pressured to do this 'job'. To volunteer means to work on your own time when you have the time. I did try and come up with a solution to help with Volunteers checking in when they could in the form of a Web Forum. It was supposed to help ease the pressure off everyone and allow each team to get across what work needs to be done while other members could check in, do what they could in whatever time frame they had, then check out. It didn't take off as hoped, which is ok - it was just an idea to help. Being in a different time zone also means I miss out on many conversations/meetings. And now I'm just floating without direction because I'm not sure where I am at. I turn off the FB chats because I'm at work when most of the talking happens or asleep when the rest takes place. I belive in what MM does though.

Miscarriage Matters (MM) is an organization that gives back like no other. As a mom who has experienced the loss of a child, this is the type of organization that I needed in my life 7 years ago. The people who volunteer with MM all get it. We understand the pain, the grief, and the healing because we have all been there. When I volunteer with MM, it contributes to my on-going healing and it is fulfilling. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to be for someone else exactly what you needed when you experienced your loss. We are not perfect people, but we are people who care and have a heart to serve others. I've always said that if what I went through was to help one woman get through her pain, then it was worth it. Through Miscarriage Matters, I get the opportunity to help many women. This is how you truly turn your pain into purpose.

I am a veteran volunteer at MM. I have been with the organization since 2013. I've been there for many changes and growth. Being a part of a grassroots company is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I came in with the strong desire to help those that I could reach. I remember not having that help, and I was/am determined to press on to make sure to do my part as a volunteer to make sure people are healed. I've learned so much since I have been here! I've challenged myself more and leadership saw something in me worth challenging. I am not faint of heart when things may change because I know change breeds growth! Being a part of MM even gave me the courage to speak up about my loss! Prior to joining the organization I kept my loss very close to my heart, but now I have the confidence to share that part of my heart with others in order to help them. I wholeheartedly support he mission and vision of Miscarriage Matters!

This is the first where I started to work with full passion and interest. This place is well organized. I work as HR recruiter & i love the way our HR director helps us in giving our tasks. There are weekly meetings which help us to be up to date about the happenings in and around this organization. This is really a nice place as we are giving back to the society something good and nice. I love my volunteering experience her. Thanks you Esther to start this mission.

There are not many organizations around like Miscarriage Matters. It is an organization that cares deeply about the pain and grief of parents losing a child. the organization has helped me to cope and to heal from losing a little girl many years ago. Not only has it helped me to become a better person, but I have met many wonderful volunteers and people who have encouraged me and can relate to my loss. I encourage others to become a part of such a wonderful organization by becoming involved as a volunteer or by offering your support to such a worthy cause. Thank you Miscarriage Matters for all that you do to help others.

I started volunteering here back in Aug. Things were fine until the beginning of Oct., & things slowly got worse & worse. There are far too many leadership positions all wanting to command instead of trusting the volunteers you recruited. People quit and rather than recruiting, they put more pressure on the remaining volunteers. They dont speak to volunteers in a professional manner and attempt to publicly shame and guilt people, having conversations that should have been kept private between 1-3 leaders being said in front of everyone which is not only inappropriate but is a gross misconduct for a so called HR director. The requirements listed here ask for 5 graphics/wk, but at 9 pm announced a 2 graphic/DAY min. & expected 2 graphics that night or threatened to dismiss you. They also threaten big brother style to watch your performance daily for 2 weeks. Burning out your volunteers, inciting fear, & shaming them is going to ruin your organization. Im disgusted by HRs behavior
