Mission Statement
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh is dedicated to providing decent, affordable housing in partnership with families in need. Reaching across religious, cultural, and racial boundaries, we seek to rebuild a sense of community with the common goal of strong neighborhoods and dignity through homeownership.
Description
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat succeeds in reintroducing into neighborhoods the most basic building block of any community - the homeowner. Habitat provides resources, guidance, and hope to aspiring families. These families work from within their neighborhoods, creating the change we all seek, and repaying the investment that we have made in them.
Since affiliation with Habitat for Humanity International in 1999, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh has:
- Acquired numerous abandoned houses in the City of Newburgh for rehabilitation
- Organized thousands of volunteers
- Completed 107 houses
- Partnered with over 550 individuals, including 274 children
