Description
Serving the Victoria TX and surrounding communities as a PATH Intl Premier Accredited Center, The Riding Therapy Center (RTC) provides a unique form of physical, occupational, cognitive and speech therapy to children and adults with various special needs and disabilities. Every aspect of the therapeutic lesson is done with or while riding our specially trained therapy horses.
The RTC provides effective therapeutic riding by utilizing the rhythmical, three dimensional movement of the horse to stimulate movement to the rider that is similar to the walking gait of the human. This provides the working background for the PATH Intl certified riding instructor, with the guidance of a physical therapist. This therapy has shown a marked improvement in balance, coordination, fine motor skills, sequential thinking, problem solving, increased self-esteem, and numerous other benefits.
The Equine Services for Heroes Program is therapeutic riding for military veterans who suffered injury in the line of duty. The purpose of this program is to improve the lives of servicemen and women by helping them adjust physically and emotionally to their post-war lives through camaraderie with fellow veterans, support from friends and family and the healing power of horses.
