We are seeking a few friendly folks to help support our Center for Grief & Healing. Volunteers will serve as greeters for our various support groups and at memorial events. On a weekly, biweekly, or substitute basis, volunteers provide a comforting presence for clients as you welcome and escort them to their respective support groups. Volunteers would also help with various tasks at memorial service events we host throughout the year. This opportunity is for Tuesdays 6pm to 7pm or Thursdays, 6pm to 7pm. Learn more about our Center for Grief & Healing: Since its inception, Hinds Hospice has understood the value of providing ongoing support to families after a death. Initially, this grief support was provided primarily to the family members of our Hinds Hospice patients by our bereavement (grief) staff. Over the years, our bereavement program has expanded in response to ongoing requests for specialized support from our community. The Center for Grief and Healing at Hinds Hospice was developed in 2005 in response to these growing needs. The center affirms our belief and understanding of the importance of support to healing through the grief process. The mission of the Center for Grief & Healing at Hinds Hospice is to bring understanding, compassion and professional support to those experiencing loss and grief. Our staff is comprised of licensed therapists and counselors who have received extensive training in the area of grief, loss and healing. A special part of the Center for Grief and Healing is the Angel Babies program whose mission is to comfort, support and uphold the dignity of families whose babies have a life-limiting condition or whose baby has died.
